The estate has been family owned since the late 18th century and acquired its current name, Sallier de La Tour, at the beginning of the 20th century. The winery, located in the heart of the estate, was built in 1909 and since then the family has been producing wine with a special focus, in recent years, on Syrah. In 2008, the management of the estate has been entrusted to the Tasca d’Almerita family, winemakers and first cousins, who have added Sallier de La Tour to the mother estate, Regaleali, in Salina, in the Aeolian archipelago alongside other wineries such as Tascante on Etna and the historic Whitaker estate on the ancient Mozia island, as part of an ambitious valorisation project of Sicily’s native varieties and of the territories with the highest wine-growing vocation.
